Tribal people are the aborigines of the nation. It is perceived as the community with ample natural resources and free life. By its characteristics the tribal community is seen as backward in modern education and development. It can be seen as the community with backward nature in terms of modern assessment. Education is considered as a key indicator of human development and progress. Education in tribal regions assumes significance because of its low literacy level and poor ranking in education index as per their life hood. This reveals the educational backwardness of the tribes. The informal section of education- the government organizations which are engaged in catering to the needs of the marginalized that don’t have access to formal education. Therefore some government institutions and especially Ashram schools play pivotal role for the education of tribal people. The present paper is an attempt to understand the education among the tribal community. The author has made an attempt to study the present condition and has tried to propagate the futuristic suggestions to make the community viable at the mainstream of the society.
