The education policy of a country indicates the change it is ready to undergo. The policymakers of that era in which a policy is formulated converse with the legislation and stakeholders about their vision, intent, plan of execution, and the expected result in the years to come. The National Education Policy 2020 was a much-awaited policy that educationists, academicians, and educational researchers were demanding. It is anchored in our culture and hints at moving away from ‘Macaulayism’ that has limited our nation’s potential. Social Capital is a newly accepted formal term for relationships that are built on social cooperation, norms, trust, and many other social and moral virtues. Social Capital is slowly finding its way into the process of policymaking, implementation, execution, and evaluation. This paper is an attempt at how Social Capital can transform our school education through its recognition and formal incorporation into our policy lexicon.
